Layla is excited to see who her new neighbors will be. She is hoping there will be a girl her age and that she will have a best friend to play with right next door. The new kids are not at all what she expected, and much more than she bargained for. They lure her, and her cousins, to an evil, sinister land where snacks turn children into sniveling, subhuman slaves. Somehow Layla finds the strength to say no to the enticing, addictive treats and, with the help of a strange, magical boy, leads them on a dangerous journey home.
